Carbon fluxes in tropical forests

Tropical forests account for more than one third of all terrestrial primary productivity. However, with increasing temperatures over the next decades, tropical forestsĀ are thought to reach their thermal maximum and reduce their capacity to take up and store carbon. My research on the past years has focused on understanding the photosynthetic and respiratory responses of tropical trees and lianas to elevated temperatures. In particular, I studied how leaf temperature variation within the canopy can affect the estimates of photosynthesis in global carbon models.
