My name is Brisa Reyes (pronounced bree-sa), and, though I am majoring in Engineering, I consider myself first and foremost an artist. I am a visual and hands-on learner, as I enjoy more learning through my own mistakes and trying out my own solutions for problems. I am a Chicana, meaning I was born in the US but come from Mexican parents. I speak both Spanish and English and some French. I also took part in the International Baccalaureate program at my high school through which I made several friends and got to practice more in depth analysis of different topics in each class, such as how mathematics can relate to art and even religion and how women helped in winning the Second World War through math and science.
In terms of goals, I was inspired by Chinese physicist, Chien Shiung Wu, to have my ultimate goal be to become the first Hispanic woman to receive a Nobel Prize in Physics. To get there (or at least close enough), I plan on excelling in my classes at OSU and potentially getting an internship or co-op with NASA.
When it comes to the environment and nature, I love all types of outdoor adventures, as my mind is constantly wanting to explore and expand my boundaries. I enjoy camping, rock climbing, and kayaking. I chose to be part of the ENR scholars program because I want to learn and become more conscious about the environment and how I, as a future engineer, can help in improving the state of our planet.
As an artist, I enjoy giving math and science a twist in its application and exploring its more beautiful and artistic aspects. I often find my mind wandering in these areas and am constantly fascinated by nature, science, and cultures.
Lastly, I find it important to include that my all time favorite movie is Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron, as I believe it perfectly portrays the untamable spirit of nature through beautiful artistic animation and music.

Hi, Brisa! Your new design on here looks great. I especially love the sunflower! I hope all is well with classes and adjusting to college life!
