My Wikipedia Project | Undergraduate Research Abroad in Belize

While learning about Belize, I found myself frequently turning to Wikipedia in attempts to learn more about a person who I found briefly mentioned elsewhere. I was disappointed with what I encountered. Even though Wikipedia is one of the most visited websites in the world, many prominent Belizeans simply do not have Wikipedia pages. In collaboration with my Library Research advisor, I sought to change this. I created four Wikipedia pages for noteworthy Belizean scholars, diplomats, and journalists from scratch.

It is easy to learn how to become a Wikipedia editor. Anyone can go through the tutorials to start creating and editing pages. There is even an online community for Wikipedia editors and a student organization at Ohio State known as The Wikipedia Connection.
