K-Pop(Korean popular music) is a very important type of culture, music genre originating in South Korea that is characterized by a wide variety of audiovisual elements.
First, Music plays an important role in Korean dramas. Original soundtracks (OST), are explicitly made for each series, and in contrast to American series, fans have a need to buy the soundtrack album of dramas. OST songs of popular K-dramas became hits on regular music charts, with good sales of both physical and digital albums. The chart performance of the OST songs usually co-relate to the popularity of the drama. My Destiny, performed by Lyn for My Love from the Star, led music charts in Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea, and other Asian countries. It also won the Best OST award at the 2014 Baeksang Arts Awards.
Second, Music leads a subculture, which modern K-pop “idoles” culture began with the boy band H.O.T. in 1996, as K-pop grew into a subculture that amassed enormous fandoms of teenagers and young adults. The number of bands, singers and entertainments growing fast and becoming the economics income of government.
