Inclusive Excellence Development Plan Resources

The Inclusive Excellence Development Plan is a tool for Paraprofessional Residence Life staff to set individual goals and strategies for creating welcoming and inclusive environments in Ohio State Residence Halls.

Below are some suggested resources for figuring out which areas to explore this year to develop knowledge and skills related to the Inclusion value in Residence Life.

How Comfortable Am I? (Worksheet) — Click the link to open the document: How-Comfortable-Am-I

Community Connections

Programming/ OA Staff Development Ideas

*Talk with your supervisor about how you can use these ideas to meet your staff expectations related to creating an inclusive residential environment.

“What’s Your Story Activity”-As a floor or hall icebreaker, have students share their story about: an interesting fact about themselves, how they got their name/the significance of their name, and one way they are going to take advantage of the diversity at Ohio State to make them a better student.

“What is Inclusive Excellence?”— Think about this definition of inclusive excellence provided by the American Association of Colleges and Universities. What are some ways your residential community can support the goals of IE?

Connect students to the Involved Living Organizations in Res. Life— There are 7 incredible Involved Living Organizations (ILOs) supported by Residence Life that all focus on the Core Four values of Residence Life, including Inclusion. Connecting residents to these groups would be a great way for them to learn about how to live and learn with diverse communities here at Ohio State. To learn more about Res. Life’s ILOs go to https://involvedliving.osu.edu
