The president of the Evangelical Environmental Network, Rev. Mitch Hescox, made a statement saying that the budget proposed by the Trump administration is a “devils bargain,” which would harm national parks and the protection of God’s creatures.

“The Trump Administration’s budget, if implemented, would be an abdication of our stewardship of our public lands, which are entrusted to each generation to pass on to their children.”

The Evangelical Environment Network released an article about the recent threats to public lands, specifically Grand Staircase-Escalante and Bears Ears. They believe that public lands such as these make what belongs to God available to everyone and “To step into a National Park or Forest or National Monument and enjoy the beauty of God’s creation is to experience freedom and the richness of life as persons made in the image of God.” Therefore, it is the responsibility of Christians to be good stewards of the earth and protect these lands.
