Semester in Review

This past semester has been a growing experience for me in academics and in general life skills. Concerning academics, I have been doing very well in my classes, but I have had to put a substantial amount of effort into my calculus 2 class. In high school, I did not have to study for calculus, but here at the Ohio State University, I have had to study and go to office hours very often to get a B or B+ on midterms. Concerning life skills, I have grown more independent and have assumed responsibility for my finances. Even though I am still dependent on my parents for money, I have grown in responsibility of my own things, and I am able to keep track of the money I have and how I spend it.

LSAMP Integrated Sciences: Top of the Class

IMG_2721

During the summer of my freshman year of college, I was accepted into the LSAMP Scholars Program at the Ohio State University, and I participated in a summer bridge program. During the summer bridge program, all the scholars including myself did a variety of activities including taking classes to prepare for college (math and science) and attending various workshops. One of the classes we took was integrated sciences which included chemistry and biology. After taking the class and after the summer bridge program was over, I was awarded top of the class in integrated sciences at the LSAMP summer bridge program award ceremony. This award reminds me of my passion for science and my determination to succeed whether it be in school or outside of the classroom. It also makes me look forward to the next four years at the Ohio State University where the LSAMP Scholars Program will continue to help me succeed.

Hi,

My name is Nicole Reinhold-Larsson, and I am from Knoxville,Tennessee. I am currently attending the Ohio State University and pursuing a B.S. in Microbiology. I am a member of the Biological Science Scholars Program as well as the LSAMP Scholars Program. I joined the Biological Scholars program because I wanted to receive more experience and exposure to the biological sciences, and I joined LSAMP because I wanted to make more connections with students and faculty members in STEM fields. During my time at Ohio State, I plan to do undergraduate research, study abroad, and be a member of both the Latino Student Association and Dance Coalition.
