Monthly Training

The Center for Clinical and Translational Science, in coordination with the Department of Research Information Technology (RIT), conducts monthly training sessions via Zoom.

There are six modules of training, based on the experience a user has with REDCap, or the role(s) a user will have within REDCap. If the session you want isn’t open yet, please check back. A calendar invite will be sent after registration. Slides will be distributed to all registered participants 1 hour before training time.

REDCap for New Hires
This level of training is appropriate for individuals who are using REDCap for the first time, or individuals who have very limited prior experience. This session reviews why you should use REDCap, obtaining accounts (REDCap and OSUMC Guest), requesting a new project, logging in, the REDCap interfaces, REDCap services offered, and more!

REDCap Design Part 1
This level of training is appropriate for individuals who are using REDCap for the first time, or individuals who have very limited prior experience. This session reviews the basics of REDCap form design, the REDCap Shared Library, enabling surveys, testing, and ways of distributing surveys.

REDCap Design Part 2: Basics
This level of training is appropriate for individuals who have used REDCap and are comfortable with building basic forms, or have attended or watched Design 1 training. This session reviews more advanced features of building forms such as piping, embedding, branching logic, the basics of calculated fields, action tags, longitudinal data collection, randomization, and more!

REDCap Design Part 2: Advanced
This level of training is appropriate for individuals who have used REDCap and are comfortable with building forms, or have attended or watched Design 2: Basics training. This session is the most advanced design session available. It reviews the most recent features of advanced REDCap, as well as advanced action tags, advanced calculated fields, smart variables, HTML, external modules, multi-language module, and more!

Data Entry and Program Management in REDCap
This level of training is appropriate for individuals who won’t have primary responsibility for designing forms, rather their role will be to enter and edit data. Also for project coordinators/ program managers who will oversee data collection.

eConsent in REDCap
This level of training is appropriate for projects that have questions about collecting Electronic Informed Consent. We will be discussing the current eSignature rules and regulations, the new workflow for requesting the eConsent Extension (fee for service), and the future implementation of eConsent Extension DIY.
