My First Week at OSU

Welcome Week was definitely full of tons of different activities every single day; it was nearly impossible to walk through campus and not find some sort of activity going on. On one hand, it was a fantastic way to get involved on campus right away and meet with a bunch of people who are interested in the same things that I am, but on the other hand, there were so many activities going on every single day that it was a little difficult to find time to get completely settled and situated. However, I did love the Activities Fair, as it was an amazing (and incredibly organized) way to help me navigate my way to find the topics of clubs that I am interested in and want to be a part of.

I believe I am adjusting to life at Ohio State pretty well. I’ve been ready to leave my home for a while, and college at OSU is a perfect fit for me. My new schedule is much different than it was in high school, which is to be expected. Though I don’t have any classes on Wednesday’s, I have almost twelve and a half hours straight of classes on Thursday. It’s worth it to me, though, because I am able to take all of the classes that I want to take, which never happened in high school. I also have much more overall freedom here in college than I ever did at home, which is also an incredibly nice change that I believe I’ve been ready for.

Before leaving for college, I expected the first week to be pretty silent social-wise – I thought it would probably take me a few weeks, if not months, to make any good friends. I also thought that my classes would be more rigorous than they actually are. However, my classes so far are very manageable, and I’ve made dozens of friends already, to the point where I’m almost constantly with at least two friends if I’m not walking to class.
