Columbus to do list part 2

The First part of the Columbus to do list, I started outdoor adventure, as the semester went on, I decided to chance to Ice Cream and Desserts. This decision came from not being able to go on the trips for the outdoor adventure and my undeniable love for ice cream. I switched and i was happy with the choice i made. It was great way to hang out with friends and have a good time, eating delicious treats.

My new experience included

Whit’s Custard

Jeni’s Splendid ice cream

Greaters Ice cream

Rocket Fizz  Soda Pop and Candy Shop

My favorite experience was going to all the places with one of my roommates and having a great time exploring the short north. I hardly spend any time in the short north, and seeing all the ice cream places i never knew existed really surprised me. I eat to much ice cream for my own good and finding these places, are a good thing and also a bad thing for my figure. My favorite place was Whit’s custard which make a blizzard like sundae that was the best blizzard i have ever had. I bought the caramel apple sundae which was a mix of apple pieces, caramel and vanilla ice cream, all blended together. It was amazing and i would highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to have a refreshing sundae on a hot day. I would tell anyone to explore the short north for any reason. It has a lot of great people and great places to explore. The ice cream list, is great for anyone who has a sweet tooth, and likes ice cream. This list has many cool places on it that have interesting history tied to each one.

Jeni’s ice cream is always a classic of Columbus which has amazing ice cream, and tons of flavors. Jeni’s is a little expensive, however they have great quality of ice cream, and many different options for people who like something different then vanilla and chocolate. when i went i got the tin roof sundae which was amazing and very well built for a sundae. If you want to be a part Columbus, then you have to go to Jeni’s ice cream.

Greater Ice Cream i thought was better then Jeni’s ice cream and cheaper. I like the options you have and the set up of Greaters. I have been to Greaters many times and it is always a treat to go back and get something different. I would recommend Greaters for anyone.

Rocket Fizz Soda Pop and Candy Shop is a very interesting shop that has the most variety of candy, soda pop, posters i have ever seen. It was awesome to walk around and just look and the hundreds of items in the store which i didn’t even know existed. I would recommend this place for anyone and i hope to go back there to stock up on my random assortment of soda pop. The store is honestly confusing with the amount of stuff all over the walls and on tables around the store.

Earth Month Challen Final Reflection

My overall experience with the earth month challenge was great. i had a lot of fun challenging myself and learning more about what i can do to improve being more sustainable. I also learned that anyone can do little challenges, that can get them thinking about sustainability. This could start challenges in household and schools around the globe which would be a great thing. I had times during each week where the bus was the easiest option or i just wanted to take the elevator. Those challenges which were easy to skip out on, are the ones that could make the biggest difference in my life and in the communities life, pertaining to sustainability .

I learned how much energy i waste with falling asleep with the tv on, or leaving the room with the lights on. Living in a suite of 10 guys, it is hard to make sure the lights are getting turned off. Since all of us were doing the challenge i noticed the lights being off more then on. i have also learned that each week the more you stack onto your plate the more you notice, what you are actually doing. Also how if more and more people did this, that it would make a large difference in the community and in society.

I will try to continue as each week is moving towards of my goal to become more sustainable. i hope to continue as many challenges as i can, and hopefully find new ones that will challenge me as the others one did. The challenges can be done each week and i will continue them over the summer and heading into autumn semester. Since i am going to be a camp counselor over summer i will have great opportunities to spread my knowledge and challenges to my cabin mates.

i would do another challenge that would have to do with sustainability or environment or both. i am open to do a lot of things and want to get more involved in the community and ENR itself.

The challenge was very fun and challenging, which taught me a lot about myself and how i can change to be a better human being on or beautiful planet. I enjoy the challenge and hope to get a bike soon to be able to do the challenge better and longer .

week 3 Earth Month Reflection

Week 3 of challenges went well, as i planned it to go. Getting further and further into the month all of the challenges seem to get easier because i am used to doing something that i know will benefit myself and the earth. What i should do differently is combine the challenges for each week and make it harder so i realize how much i can actually make a difference. i learned the cold showers are not the best but after playing basketball for a few hours the cold shower did not feel that bad . Next week is the final week of earth month and it has gone by pretty quickly. I anticipate my last week will be the hardest and the most challenging because i will be combining all 4 week into the week of earth month. week 4 for me will no elevator, no bus, cold showers, and reducing light and energy usage in the dorm. i am exciting for the last week but also nervous for all the challenges i will have to face. hopefully i will be able to continue this habit for the rest of my life.

Earth Month Challenge

4/5/2016

My earth Month challenge week 2 went well and was easier then i originally thought last week. My week 2 challenge was not taking public transportation, instead walking and biking to places around campus. I can improve by getting a bike, and bringing it to campus, so i can bike more, so i can make travel around quicker and easier then walking. For this week, i started a step challenge and tracked how many steps i have taken over this week. I learned how many more steps i could get in one day an set goals that would make me get out and walk more and run. It was a fun side challenge that helped me walk more places and walk to places that are further away that i would usually take the bus to. For next week i am taking cold shower and reducing the amount of hot water i use. I anticipate that its going to be different taking cold showers, however i have taken cold showers before and it should be fine. I think it will be a good way to start reducing my amount of hot water and how long i take showers. This challenge could change how i do things for my whole life and how i handle reducing water and reducing my use and other people usage.
