G.O.A.L.S.

Global Awareness- Through CRU, a christian organization here at Ohio State, I will have the opportunity to go on summer mission trips to help people in other countries, including other college students, better themselves and lead fulfilling lives.

Original Inquiry- As a major in molecular genetics, I plan to get involved with research that aims to answer questions such as how can we stop the cancer mutations from occurring in our cells and how can we use genetics to determine which medicines will be the most effective in treating specific individuals.

Academic Enrichment- I am a molecular genetics major with a pre-med track, so throughout my four years at this university I will taking a rigorous science curriculum, and I also plan to have a minor in neuroscience. I plan to use my time wisely and I have developed an academic plan that distributes my courses evenly across my four years so that I can perform to the best of my abilities as well as lead a balanced life.

Leadership Development- I will be applying to become a peer mentor because I would like the opportunity to guide future first-years through the transition into college. Also, I plan to apply to become a chemistry teaching assistant so I can help others perform well academically and provide them with any help they need.

Service Engagement- I plan to volunteer at the James Cancer Hospital, providing comfort and company to the patients there, as well as at the Columbus Free Clinic to support and serve the diverse population right here in Columbus.
