Call for Quantum Social Science Papers

Papers are still being accepted until Friday, July 15 at 5 p.m. ET. The workshop date will be decided with the availability of the invited parties.

In addition to providing a unique and generative intellectual experience for our quantum bootcamp participants, we also hope to have two more lasting effects: contributing to a trans-disciplinary network of quantum social scientists; and nurturing the development of ideas and papers into published articles.

To both ends, we are considering holding an intensive, one-day workshop for 15-20 people after camp, where participants can share works-in-progress with each other and team leaders for constructive feedback.

Everyone accepted into this workshop would be expected to bring a five-page (minimum) memo to the discussion, but full drafts of papers would also be welcome. Given the variation in technical skill in our community, we would likely divide such a workshop into two groups, one more qualitative and one quantitative.

However, before committing to this idea, we would first like to gauge how much interest there is, and what kind of papers it might generate. Thus, if you would like to be considered for this seminar, please submit the following information to whitak.ks@gmail.com by July 15 at 5 p.m. ET:

  1. A working title and short abstract of your paper.
  2. An estimate of how much of it is drafted.
  3. A gauge of how mathematical your paper is/will be. (low, medium, high)
  4. Your target audience or discipline.

We look forward to seeing what is out there!
