Hello all! Today is the last pre-departure class before we leave for Costa Rica. We will arrive in San José on May 21st (I leave on Sunday). As one might imagine, I’m incredibly excited for this trip, although a bit nervous. This is my first time out of the country in about 12 years, and my first time abroad alone. In addition to my time with the study abroad program, Environmental Sustainability in Costa Rica, I will be staying by myself for 11 days in the country. The volcano pictured above, Volcán Arenal, is located in the district of La Fortuna. We will visit this area on with the program, and I hope to stay in this area when I’m by myself.
I like plans. I take comfort in knowing what is going to happen. But with this trip, I will not have that comfort. This will push me to relax, let go of control, and truly build up my flexibility and adaptability. It will be a growing experience, and while that scares me, I also look forward to it immensely.
Pura Vida!
Leah
