G.O.A.L.S.
Here are my planned G.O.A.L.S. for my time here at Ohio State:
- Global Awareness: I am currently planning to go on the Global May trip to Uganda this summer to experience a different culture and setting. Not only am I hoping to learn everything I can about the people in Uganda, but also about Uganda’s presence in the world.
- Original Inquiry: Soon I am planning to go to the Center for Automotive Research and try and join the Alternative Fuels research team.
- Academic Enrichment: I hope to be able to work on the Student Farm sometime this spring to feed my passion for farming, but also the OSU community!
- Leadership Development: Being apart of the Leadership Collaborative this past summer has taught me things I have never known about leadership that I am going to apply to be a peer mentor so I can help others learn the great things leadership has to offer.
- Service Engagement: Every semester I hope to reach about 10 hours of community service. So far, I have participated in different activities such as preparing food for those in need in Franklin County, spending a Saturday morning before a football game picking up trash on the streets around campus, or cleaning up a community garden to foster plant growth.

Springs in the Fall?
Last Friday in Engineering 1181 lab, we were tasked to make springs out of fishing line. This lab introduced us somethings that materials engineers can do to manipulate different materials to create unexpected things. We used a power drill to twist the fishing line really tightly, and then heated it up to make the newly formed coils stay. Throughout the whole process, different weights were placed on the spring to make sure it would still work as we went. I’m very proud of our little spring!
About Me
Hello!
My name is Stephanie Puntel and I am currently a Pre-Mechanical Engineering major looking to recieve a minor in Communications. I am also apart of the Green Engineering Scholars program. I am interested in exploring the environmental side of engineering whether that is through mechanical or through the Green Scholars program. I have always wanted to be a farmer (weird, I know) and now I want to use the knowledge I can gain from the Green Engineering Scholars program along side basic engineering concepts to change the way we farm so farmers can have more efficient and environmentally friendly crop yields.
As my other interests go, I am a big sports fan. The sports that I am more focused on are soccer and baseball/softball. These two games have just the right amount of teamwork and personal responsibility that make them fun and unique to watch!
I also very much love dogs and animals in general. I have a golden retriever puppy at home right now and find so much joy in seeing him run around our yard enjoying himself.
Lastly, something that I believe separates me from most of my peers is that I am so willing to volunteer and give my time and energy for a good cause. Last year I logged over 250 volunteer hours and spent a majority of my summer working with an organization that gave 40 children in the foster system a summer they would never forget. Volunteering is a large part of my self identity and I hope to continue to serve while I am here at Ohio State.
