Maintenance

Appearance-Focused Intervention

  • It is definitely feasible for this intervention to be maintained especially if public health departments supply the booklet to the recommended settings.
  • Although the estimated cost for the intervention is relatively inexpensive the price of the booklet would need factored in to yearly budgets in order to ensure that the program stays in effect from year to year.
  • Personnel to order and deliver the necessary materials
  • After some time, the booklet may need to be reevaluated to ensure that the information presented is up to date and socially relevant

Parent-Focused Intervention

  • Parents that participated in this study were said to be “very enthusiastic about participating int he intervention.” (12)
  • Findings indicate strong evidence for parents willingness to participate.
  • The handbook is an ideal method of intervention because it allows for flexibility and also allows parents to participate on their own schedule.
  • Future interventions would require personnel to administer the handbooks.

Community-Wide Intervention

  • This intervention can be maintained through school, recreational, parental, peer groups, and community continued support.
  • After the initial training, adult change agents can continue to promote sun-protection by the simple Ask, Advise, and Assist steps.
  • It can be easily maintained by integrating sun protection activities into regular school activities.
