My name is April Prosser and I am the nurse at Malabar Intermediate School in Mansfield, OH. I grew up in Mansfield and graduated from Madison Comprehensive School in 1995. I then went onto Ashland University, where I played softball and received my bachelor’s degree in Public/Sports Communication with a radio/TV minor. After receiving my bachelor’s degree at Ashland, I attended Marshall University and was the graduate assistant softball coach and received my Master’s degree in PE/Athletic Administration in 2001.

I then made a decision to go back to school and get my nursing degree from MedCentral College of Nursing’s accelerated program. I graduated with my BSN in March 2006 and started my nursing career at MedCentral on a Medical Surgical floor. I then accepted a position in the prison system at Richland Correctional Institution in 2008, where I worked for 9 years as an RN, Quality Improvement Coordinator and Nurse Supervisor. I was ready for a change and accepted the school nurse position on September 30, 2019.

After getting hired I enrolled in the curriculum at The Ohio State University for my School Nurse Licensure. I will complete the program and receive my certificate in April 2021.

I have loved my transition into school nursing and am honored to be a part of the Malabar Family.

In my spare time, I enjoy boating, traveling, the outdoors and spending time with family and friends. I have been married to my husband Bobby for 17 years and we have a 16 year old son, Brantson and a 2 year old daughter Journey, along with 2 Jack Russell Terriers, Kaiya and Ellie.
