Ohio State University generates an annual crime report that has statistics of all the crime happening on and off campus. This annual crime report of OSU (2018) shows that the rate of crimes have been increasing tremendously every year. This article also records a spike in burglaries from 19 to 49 in 2017 and increase in the number of non campus crimes up from one to 13 in 2017. This causes many safety problems to the students both on campus and off campus.
Students can’t move around campus with the freedom they want to, and they can’t enjoy the campus facilities to the fullest. This can lead to change of plans and cause trouble to students. They cannot get their work done at the right time. Thus there is a need to increase safety around campus and educate students about the ways to protect themselves in unavoidable situations.
