Mount Leadership Society is dedicated to leadership and service, and that is why we have monthly service events we get to choose and volunteer at. For the October service event some fellow Mounties and I volunteered at Smith Farm for the Fall Jamboree. There, we were all given different tasks such as making popcorn and crafts, directing parking, or working in the pumpkin patch. I really enjoyed this service event because it was fun to see all the local Columbus families come and enjoy their nice fall day. I love all of the different Mount service options because we work such interesting events, such as the November service event which was working a Veteran Wheelchair Basketball tournament. It’s so fun to continue meeting and developing friendships with other Mounties during our monthly service events as well.

About Me

Allison Prey is a first-year student from Libertyville, Illinois, and will be studying Marketing at the Fisher College of Business. She is interested in pursuing a career with a company or business with a strong social conscience and community involvement. Allison was involved in extracurricular activities all throughout high school and is excited to become involved on campus. Throughout high school, she dedicated her time to sports and clubs, while maintaining a strong GPA. She loves lacrosse, and was a three-year varsity athlete, and a two-year varsity captain. Allison was also a referee for a girls lacrosse program for most of her high school years. Other than sports, Allison has always had a passion for community service and volunteerism, as she went on multiple mission trips throughout high school and was involved in a volunteering club.  One of her most meaningful experiences was as the co-president for the club Caring for Cambodia, where she and other club members raised money and held fundraisers to travel to Cambodia where they helped teach English and build a road for a school. Allison is also very interested in learning about and experiencing new cultures, and would love to be able to combine her passion for travel, her studies and volunteerism while at Ohio State. On campus Allison is involved in Mount Leadership Society Scholars.

Artifact 1

This is a photo of me and my Mount family at the Mount MILES Ceremony, where all first-years were officially inducted into the Mount Scholars program. This ceremony concluded Launch Week, where we learned more about the program and met all the new first year Mounties. It has been so beneficial to be part of Mount because of the sense of community. We are paired up with second-year (Megas) who serve as a resource and friend to help us adjust to our first year at college. We are also all a part of a Mount family, which adds to the strong sense of togetherness and community. As an out-of-state student, I am so thankful for this group of people that I know are always there for me to help and support me.
