Exercises

Exercise 1:
My blind and contour drawings. They look so strange, but I think it is interesting to look at them; especially the blind drawings.

Exercise 2:
Warm-up contour drawing for the still-life project. I was pretty happy with how these turned out and am starting to feel myself improving with using darkness of lines to portray distance.

Exercise 3

Learning different styles of shading and how to shade effectively. I think that shading can really bring a picture to life and I am excited to try it in upcoming projects but I feel like shading realistically is much more difficult than what we’ve done yet. Regardless, so far so good.

Exercise 4

Learning how to utilize perspective. I think this will definitely add a sense of realism that was lacking in our previous drawings. I think this is easier for me than shading but is something I’ve never really considered trying in my art before. Excited to see how this helps me improve!

Exercise 5

Really enjoying outdoor perspective so far. I think it comes easier to me than indoor perspective. Hopefully I continue to improve as we near the due date for the project!

Drawing 4 exercises from the reading

2 sketches of outdoor perspective for the project.

Exercise 6:

I don’t know if I fully understand how gesture drawing works yet, but it seems like we have so much freedom to do what we want. It should be interesting to see where this goes!
