About Me

Hello! I’m Ashley Pratt, a Mechanical Engineering student from Mason, Ohio in The Ohio State University’s College of Engineering. I am a member of OSU’s STEM Exploration and Engagement Scholars, which has allowed me to connect with others who share my love of STEM-related topics, as well as my desire to capitalize on those interests to better the world around me.

When it comes to campus involvement, I am involved in both Buckeyethon- the largest student-run philanthropy organization in Ohio, with the goal of eliminating pediatric cancer- and the Society of Women Engineers.

Generally, both in and out of class, I love working with all sorts of technology, from the electronics in my car to the software on my laptop. In particular, I love learning about the hardware and software of mobile devices, and am fascinated by how quickly the field is evolving. Looking forward to the future, I hope to either work with them, or in the automotive and transportation industry. Both are humming with potential for innovation, and being a part of either will certainly aid me in reaching my goal of helping those around me live better lives.

In the past, I’ve worked as a lifeguard at a large waterpark, which helped me develop several transferable skills. These include professionalism, communication, and the ability to work and communicate effectively under pressure, among others. I’ve also had the opportunity to visit several foreign countries, which has allowed me to gain a much better understanding of international cultures and customs.

This e-Portfolio demonstrates a very diverse set of experiences and interests that will aid me in both my academic and professional development. Thanks to these, I have been able to develop excellent connections to my peers, as well as a much better understanding of myself and my future goals.
