Career

I chose my upperclassman interviewee, Parks Hall, and Steelwood Athletic Training Center as my three strategic life plan photos.  These three things have helped me grasp my values, understand my future career path, and how to stay disciplined and focused on my goals.  Brittany Boltz, my upperclassman interviewee, is my RA on floor three of Park-Stradley.  Getting to know Brittany has helped me with balancing school and personal life as well as understanding myself more and focus on who I am.  Brittany focuses on keeping up with school work and other responsibilities, but at the same time staying true to herself and not sacrificing her own values for other people or activities; knowing that she can do it has helped me focus on keeping this true for myself.  Parks Hall, the College of Pharmacy building, resembles my goal of becoming a pharmaceutical scientist.  Being able to see others in my field of choice has helped me in focusing on striving for this goal because these people have set the bar that I need to reach, that I know I can reach.  Having classes in Parks Hall has helped me come closer to my goal and understand my major more.  Finally, Steelwood Athletic Training Center, the athletic facility of fencing, gymnastics, and wrestling.  Steelwood is my second home away from home.  I spend hours training here to become a better wrestler, but wrestling is more than just a way for me to stay in shape for the next four years, it is my life style choice.  Wrestling has helped me become more disciplined, stronger mentally, and taught me to never give up on my goals.  The combination of these three things have made my transition into college easier, more fun, and have given me an understanding of who I am.

About Me

Hi! I’m Joshua Powell.  I am an 18 year old incoming freshman in the College of Pharmaceutical Sciences at The Ohio State University.  I am taking an archaeology class, a couple mandatory first year classes, a chemistry class, and a class specific to pharmaceutical sciences.  I am also wrestling for Ohio State.  I love to meet new people, and talk to everybody.  I find that everybody has a story specific to themselves, and most are truly fascinating.  I plan on graduating from Ohio State and being a researcher and developer of new and upcoming pharmaceutical drugs.  I find research fascinating, and I have wanted to follow this track for many years now.  I am excited to be a part of the Ohio State community and family, and I am most excited for exploring the school and all it has to offer.
