Dr. Pourboghrat’s research interests are in the areas of materials processing, including warm forming of sheet metals and tube hydroforming, with emphasis on metal forming simulations using crystal plasticity and advanced phenomenological yield functions. His current research involves characterization and modeling of aluminum alloys, niobium, tin, third-generation advanced high strength steel (3GAHSS), in addition to polymer composites reinforced with glass, bio-fibers, carbon, clay nanotube, and graphene nano-platelets. His research has been funded by NSF, Alcoa, GM, Honda, Eaton, BAE Systems, Faurecia, DOE, and DOD.

Taejoon Park

Dr. Park is an associate research professor. He is conducting scientific researches in the area of metal and composites forming and manufacturing process modeling. His area of research interests includes the development of constitutive equations in mechanics of materials including, viscoelasticity, plasticity, and crystal plasticity. He is also counseling and advising graduate students and post-doctoral researchers about the research direction and analysis and interpretation of research data.

Mostafa is a 1st year PhD candidate. He is performing scientific researches in the area of material and process modeling, multi-axial testing, and modeling of tubes using advanced phenomenological yield functions and crystal plasticity, strain measurements using Digital Image Correlation (DIC) as well as tube hydroforming Process monitoring and control.

Amir Asgharzadeh

Amir is a 3rd year PhD candidate. He is conducting scientific researches both experimentally and numerically including the Cellular Automaton model and Finite Element Analysis to simulate the evolution of microstructure and mechanical properties in the Tube-hydroforming process.

Madhura is a 3rd year PhD student. She is performing scientific researches in the area of modeling and simulation of tool wear during metal forming processes and applying this to evaluate the performance of low-cost agile tools.
