Materials, Mechanics and Manufacturing (MMM) LAB focuses on materials processing, including cold and warm forming of sheet metals as well as tube hydroforming, with emphasis on metal forming simulations using crystal plasticity and advanced phenomenological yield functions. It involves characterization and modeling of aluminum alloys, niobium, tin, third generation advanced high strength steel (3GAHSS), in addition to polymer composites reinforced with glass, bio-fibers, carbon, clay nanotube, and graphene nano-platelets.
