Informational Interview Paper I interviewed Mike Heika, who is a Senior Staff writer for DallasStars.com.This was a special interview because being a journalist for an NHL team is my dream job, so it was so incredible to get to hear about that profession from him. I learned how difficult it is to work your way up in the field, and important skills journalists need to have. This interview really helped me think about ways I can start advancing myself in the field.

About Me

Hi! My name is Katy Popovitch, and I am a freshman from Dallas, TX. I am currently majoring in Journalism and I am planning on double majoring in Strategic Communications and double minoring in Business and Media Analysis and Production. Throughout my entire childhood, I did musical theatre and was in over fifty productions, and even got to perform on an Off-Broadway stage in New York City. I also was the Sports Editor of my high school newspaper and yearbook. My dream job is to be a sports writer, broadcaster, or marketer for an NHL team. My love for hockey began when I was seven and I went to my first Dallas Stars game, and it has continued to be a passion of mine ever since. Currently at Ohio State, I have written a few articles for the sports section in The Lantern. I am a member of the Media, Marketing, and Communications Scholars program, where I have so far taken digital sandboxes in social media marketing and podcasting, and plan to take some Adobe sandboxes in the spring. I am also a part of Buckeye Catholics, Disney Club, and Society of Professional Journalists. I love elephants, the color pink, Disney parks and movies, hanging out with my friends, and spreading positivity!
