Year in Review

One of my most memorable experience that I have had since coming to Ohio State was attending my first football game as a Buckeye.  I was an Ohio State fan before I enrolled (it was actually one of the reasons I applied here) and would frequently watch the football games on television. I would soon learn that the television is only small consolation prize to actually attending the game. My first game was memorable for multiple reasons.  Firstly, the atmosphere surrounding the game was unmatched in an sporting event that I had ever been to.  There was an exuberance that the fans elicited just in anticipation for the first game of the season.  The football team has a unique ability to unite a group of people, which I saw first hand during my first game.  Upon stepping into the stadium for the first time, I became more excited for the game to start.  But even before the game started, fans were constantly cheering.  Throughout the entirety of the game, there was an unrelenting excitement that permeated the stadium.  This environment was different than any other I had experienced because there are usually temporary lulls in activity from the crowd, but not during this game.  After leaving the game I remember thinking to myself about how I looked forward to every Saturday afternoon to attend the football game and support my school.  This first game made me proud to be a Buckeye and left me excited for future games.  I will never forget the environment and excitement of my first Ohio State football game.

Artifacts

Since I was a child, one of my traditions was keeping the ticket stub after every sporting event that I attended.  In fact, I still have some tickets from games around ten years ago that I keep pinned into a small cork-board on my desk.  I decided after that first game that I was going to continue the tradition despite going away from home.  So, I have collected all of my tickets from the football games and even the few basketball games that I went to. Even though I do not pin them onto my desk anymore, I think that its a sentimental task and connects my back to my home.  When I see the tickets on my desk in my house, I try to remember that exact game.  I try to think about where I was sitting, who I was with and what made the game fun.  I chose these tickets to be my artifacts because it connects my time at Ohio State back home.  It is something that I can even carry on after my graduation.   I think that the tickets will be interesting artifacts to look back on in a few years from now so I can recall what happened during that game and what I was doing with my friends.  It will also provide another source of connection back to this university if I still have the tickets at a later date.   This might seem like a meaningless or trivial hobby, but it is significant to me because it provides a connection from my life as a college student back to my childhood days.

About Me

I grew up and have lived in New York City for my entire life with my younger sister and parents.  My dad and I both are avid sports fan and have attended many sporting events together.  Since coming to Ohio State, I have realized that childhood was different than most other students because I grew up in an urban environment rather than in the suburbs or small towns.  I am currently in the Fisher College of Business as a Marketing major with a minor in data analytics.  I chose this major because my goal is to work with a sport organization from the business side.   This goal has been shaped by my passion of playing sports, as I was participated in multiple sports throughout High School.  Similarly, being active is a large part of who I am on campus and prefer the outdoors to the indoors.  I think that being at Ohio State will facilitate my personal and professional development as I begin to enter the workforce.
