Help Get the Word Out!

Are you a Master Gardener or Naturalist? Involved in Nature or Wildlife Related Organization? 4H leader? If you think members of your group would be interested in participating in Pollination Investigators please help us to get the word out about this citizen science program.  We aim to mail out our toolkits over the next two weeks, and are seeking 200 volunteers from across the state!

  1. Mary,
I graduated from the OCVN class last May and promptly moved to South Carolina. We have decided to move back to the great state of Ohio but in the meantime we are waiting for our home to sell.
I am wondering if you would like a participant from South Carolina or if this is just specific to Ohio. I could not get 200 volunteers but I could get an ample supply.I am currently enrolled in the Catawba Master Naturalist course and know the others would be interested.

    • Thank you so much for the message. We do plan to expand the geographic range of the study next summer, but in this initial year are sticking just to Ohio. Please check in next summer if you are in Ohio or South Carolina!

  2. I am a Girl Scout leader and biology professor in Dayton, Ohio. I would love to volunteer for this program. How do I qualify?

    • Susan, I think this would be a GREAT scout project! If you would like to review the experiment to see what you would do as a volunteer check out the “experiment” on this site, it has all the details you will need. We will also be posting a video soon, on the “video” tab that walks you through the steps. If you decide to sign up, all instructions on how to do so can be found on the “sign up” tab. You do not need to qualify in any way, as long as you understand the experimental protocols and agree to provide data we would love to have you as part of the study! Mary.
