Artifacts

This artifact is my Cardale Jones Ohio State football jersey.  While I believe that what I learned in my classes during the first semester were very important and valuable to developing me into a well-rounded, educated citizen, I believe that the most important and valuable part of my first semester was the time I spent developing friendships and becoming a part of the Ohio State community.  As became quickly apparent to me, Ohio State football is so much bigger than simply the team’s record, but it is such an integral part of the tradition and community here.  The football games are such a large part of why Ohio State has such a strong community.  It is about bringing people together for a common goal and to enjoy themselves with each other.  So many of my friendships were made during football season, going to tailgates, watching the games together, and celebrating victories (and a loss), together brought me closer to many of the people that I’ve met here than I could have ever imagined, and I could not be more appreciative of the opportunity to form such incredible relationships that it has given me.

About Me

FullSizeRender

I’m a first year finance major and member of the Business Scholar’s program in the Max M. Fisher College of Business here at The Ohio State University.  While I don’t necessarily know exactly what I’d like to do after I graduate, I’m very interested in consulting and investments.

I’m a very adventurous person and am always looking for excitement in my life.  I love traveling and would love to work abroad at some point in my life.  This past summer I was lucky enough to participate in a “reverse-mission trip” in northern Uganda where I was able to meet with local officials and leaders, as well as some of the people that an organization that I had interned with previously, Unified for Uganda, sponsored in an effort to better be able to serve them and work there in the future.  Service work is something that I’m very passionate about, and non-profit work is a field that I may pursue a career in, in the future.  I believe that experiences outside of the classroom, such as the ones I had in Uganda or in my internship, provide just great learning opportunities and often even more important than education within a classroom.  However, I do believe that education is the key to success in life, and that having an excellent, well-rounded education gives a person the potential to do virtually anything that they want to do.
