Year in Review

Looking at freshman year as a whole, it has been a very good experience. With college, there comes an immense amount of change and with this change comes discomfort. However, if one can have the correct mindset then they will persevere and overcome such challenges. I want to give a few pieces of advice for when someone begins college. Firstly, it is entirely normal to feel homesick and lonely. When you reach this point take a deep breathe and realize everything is going to be okay. Then go talk to some people you have met and get out of your room. Secondly, make sure you find things that interest, you! Take advantage of the involvement fair and find a club that will help your Ohio State experience be unique to you. Thirdly, go into college with the attitude of: I have absolutely nothing to lose. I personally had this mentality and it has benefited me in so many ways. When it comes to your studies, do your best, but make sure you realize that your brain will get tired and you physically can not study the entire time. So take breaks and go have some fun with your friends. Lastly, for your first year understand that there will be times that you face adversity and understand that you must roll with them. Do your best to not fall to pieces; everything will work out in the end.
From the first few days of college until now, a few days until the semester comes to a close, I have changed. I have became more independent and self-sufficient. I have faced adversity such as failing organic chemistry quizzes and exams and have learned that life will go on and that it will be okay. Although I have faced adversity scholastically, I have always excelled and achieved very good grades in other subjects of college. I have learned that I have interests in things that I expected myself not to like because of college. Over the course of this year, I have became very involved in my clubs and organizations. I have gained so many valuable experiences and connections through The Ohio State University and I can not wait to see what my next years at this school will bring.
