2018-2019 Meetings

November 28,2018: Introductory Session

In this initial meeting, we introduced the idea of PICC, assessed interest from the group, and brainstormed potential topics for future meetings.   We also discussed meeting frequency and format.

February 6, 2019: Report Writing

We discussed practical aspects of how we write up results/reports for investigators.  Our discussion focused on four main topics: basic formatting, how we start a report, analysis details, and results display/presentation.

April 3, 2019: Version Control/Documentation

It is not uncommon for projects to have multiple versions of datasets, analyses, and reports.   In this meeting, we discussed how we organize multiple datasets/perform data management as well as tips from statisticians about tracking changes in programs and reports.

June 19, 2019: Survey Results/Manuscript Authorship

We presented the results from our initial PICC Satisfaction Survey from May.  We also started discussing manuscript authorship: when do you bring up the subject of authorship with collaborators, what to do when you have disagreements about authorship, and difficult situations (e.g. disagreement about content, manuscripts submitted without statistician review or approval).

August 28, 2019: IRB Submission Process Review

Sandra Meadows (Program Manager – Educational Programming and Regulatory Support at Ohio State) presented “Human Subjects Research Submission and Review Process” and answered questions on retrospective studies, data sharing, and quality improvement studies.

October 23, 2019: “Structuring Effective Meetings” Webinar

In this meeting, we viewed the webinar “Structuring Effective Meetings” (Eric Vance, CU Boulder and Heather Smith, Cal Poly) followed by a brief live question and answer session with Dr. Vance via phone conference.
