The physical education teacher education track leads to a K-12 licensure within the state of Ohio. The program coursework includes content on sports and physical activities, movement patterns and motor skills, social and psychological development, and pedagogy. Students will be involved with multiple field experiences across elementary, middle, and high school settings in a diverse range of environments.

In Columbus and central Ohio, physical education teacher’s salaries typically start at $35,000+ and can go up to $114,000 per year. Most physical education teachers are employees of the state, which comes with security and tenure, including good health and retirement benefits. As a teacher gains experience, opportunities of advancement to department administration positions such as athletic directors, physical education department directors, principals and curriculum leaders become available.
