The Secret of Drawing Response
The Secret Of Drawing is a docu-series that goes over the importance of drawing in a 21st century world that does not view drawing as the same as it did a long time ago. The most interesting point that is made in the first episode is also the first thing that the host talks about. It does not matter whether we think about it or not, drawing is still all around us every single day. Every product started as a drawn design, every building was drawn by an architect, and every car was drawn by a designer. This is an incredibly eye opening point that many people in today’s world do not think about. We do not realize that almost everything started as a drawing.
The next thing that the episode talks about is an example of where old world drawings still have a place in the new technological world. This example follows a heart surgeon that uses drawing as a way to teach new surgeons about the procedures he is doing. His inspiration comes from DiVinci’s drawings and studies of human anatomy. The surgeon says that DiVinci’s drawings hold up today and could still be used to teach people about anatomy and how the human body works.
The episode as a whole covers a lot of information about drawings from the past and present and how drawing has had and still has a large place in society, industry, and even government and history. For many of the artists covered in this episode, drawing was about realism and showing how life was at the time. This is a major point throughout the episode that connects very well with the other point of drawing being such a major part of our lives.
