Pharmathon 5K 2016

Last Sunday on April 3, 2016, the Ohio State Pharmacy Alumni Society worked with the Class of 2018 and Generation Rx to put on the second annual Pharmathon 5K!  The Pharmathon 5k event is a 3.1 or 1.0 mile run/walk on the Ohio State campus to promote health, wellness and provide education on prescription drug abuse and prevention. This event was established in 2015 through a collaborative effort amongst the Pharmacy Alumni Society Governing Board and the College of Pharmacy students. The event is put on with assistance from the Columbus Running Company, a locally owned running specialty retailer. Funds raised are used to promote awareness and education regarding prescription drug misuse via the Pharmacy Alumni Society Governing Board and the College of Pharmacy Generation Rx Initiative.

We had almost 250 runners this year, and we also had a Kid’s Fun Run of 150 meters! There were several Generation Rx booths set up at the RPAC for participants, volunteers, and bystanders to play games and learn about medication safety.  After the event, runners refueled on snacks provided by our sponsors.
