G.O.A.L.S.

Collage is a place to grow, mentally, physically, and emotionally. There are many opportunities for us to grow individually or as a community while we pursue our different goals in life. My plan for the first year in collage is to succeed in every goal, but I also want to be open to growth. The first goal I have already been working on since coming to The Ohio State University is global awareness. Being Vietnamese and the first of my family to go to collage, it is important for me to assist other going through the same thing and to also learn from them. An organization that I am a part of now is APIDA. Their mission is to assist students in their first year of collage and to educate about the asian identity. Other things that I am doing now to be more globally aware is being a part of the Vietnamese and Japanese student organization and learning more about my own culture and others.

As an honor student, I want to be more involved with research and also be a part of a production. One thing that I am doing right now is dancing with Dance Irregulars. We meet regularly on Sundays and I hope that I can tryout for one of their productions. I have been looking around on campus as well for research opportunities.

It is important for me to further my academics while at Ohio State. Even though it is my first year, I have taken up some honor classes and plan on taking more. This has been a challenge for me, from time management to harder course work, it has been a learning experience. This has lead me to be more open to other people and their help. I have formed a small study group with my friends that get together twice a week to study chemistry, this has helped us all develop a stronger study schedule.

Leadership is something that I am very familiar with. In high school, I lead the chess team and coordinated several volunteering programs. In collage, I aim to continue volunteering and leading some outings. Another thing that I want to do for next year and years to come is be a peer leader or a RA. After being a bomber navigator in high school and leading sophomores, I realized the importance of having someone that have had experience a class, or course and could relate and offer help.

I look forward to more of volunteer work over the second semester and in summer. Things that I want to do to give back to the community involves me volunteering at Children’s Hospital back in Cincinnati and Matthew 25 Ministries. I have worked with Matthew 25 before and feel pretty comfortable there knowing what to do, and how to lead unfamiliar people. However, I have never volunteered at Children’s. This is something I especially look forward to do over the summer because of my love to kids. Having many cousins much younger than me, it never ceases to amaze me how creative, lively, and kind they are to the world around them. I want to help children at the hospital find joy during times of stress and sadness. I want to play with them and help them recover because I Know how much it will mean to them and the memories that they will carry with them for the rest of their life.

About Me

Born in 2000, the year of the dragon, I thrive to be a leader and emit confidence everywhere I go. I enjoy creating meaningful relationships with everyone I meet because of the many possibilities of learning new things. I love chess and games that make me think, but new games that I have never tried before interest me the most. Being the first in my family to go to college is an honor. I want to make my family proud because of the many sacrifices they did to help me get to where I am today. At The Ohio State University I am majoring in biochemistry on a pre-med track. I will do my hardest to learn all I can and never settle for less while on my long, but fruitful journey.
