Artifacts

I received this candle from a friend at the Newman Center after I went on a retreat called Buckeye Awakening. The candle’s design includes the things that I care about deeply, such as my family, my friends, my faith, and my pets. The retreat allowed me to feel a sense of authentic community at Ohio State and allowed me to connect with people I shared a common set of values with. My experience at Buckeye Awakening led me to seek out other places of authentic community on campus and taught me to not lose what matters most to me during my time at college. I learned that change and growth is key to improving as a person, but I also need to remember my core values and stay true to myself.

About Me

My name is Julia Peterson. I am a first-year pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration at the Max M. Fisher College of Business at the Ohio State University. I am specializing in International Business and minoring in Mandarin Chinese. I am a member of the Business Scholars Program. My current involvements include UBWA and the Newman Center.

In college, I hope to develop the skills that will allow me to succeed in the business world, including networking, communication, and leadership skills. I hope to participate in a study abroad to China. I also want to achieve fluency in Mandarin, as I hope to work abroad in China for a couple years after graduation.

I am passionate about volunteering, nature, and writing. I was involved in my high school’s volunteer programs, and often volunteered through my church. I continue to volunteer on campus through the Catholic community. My love of nature led me to rescue my two cats. I hope to foster kittens when I have my own apartment and am financially stable.
