Problem Areas & User Needs

Using the problems detailed in the mindmap, several problem areas and user needs can be created, as shown below:

Problem Area: Grasping/controlling multiple objects at one time.

User Needs: User needs a way to secure an object effectively and easily to be able to perform a task with one hand; needs a reliable way to move objects if they are too heavy for one arm.

Problem Area:  Some simple kitchen tasks can become dangerous when preformed with one hand

User Needs: User needs a way to safely operate in the kitchen without being injured due to burns or cuts; dangerous objects (typically hot or sharp) should have an easy way to be secured.

Problem Area: Tasks that are designed to be performed with two hands are very challenging to do with one

User Needs: User must be able to operate a tool with one hand to perform the desired task

Problem Area: Some tools can be operated using one hand but require two for a more precise result.

User Needs: User needs a way that the same precision can be acquired for the tool using one hand as it can be with two hands.

Problem Area: Tasks inevitably take longer

User Needs: User should be able to complete tasks at a rate that is at least comparable to the pace of a two-handed individual doing the same task.
