The prototyping stages were the most extensive parts of the project, and took the group from simple models made from spare cardboard to the final model (seen here) which was a fully scaled interior wall of a food truck.
The early stages of prototyping were conducted with a variety of concepts being tested as the group looked to find a definitive direction to go in. After the first two rounds, it was decided to focus on a system of storage, in the hopes of coming up with a robust, modular system that could be adapted to a wide range of storage units, be it simple shelves or complex, technology laden units.
The first round of sole focus on the storage system was not executed well. The group wanted to display the connection system, but in the manufacturing process became married and focused on the box unit, and as a result failed to accurately convey the direction that it was intended to be going.
The resulting course of action was an aggressive upscaling of the system, leading to the creation of the full scale wall to mock up the interior of a food truck. With the full model, the group then went about trying to come up with a system that would allow for a firm connection from module to wall, but provide customization and interchangeability in any environment or customer rush.
