Exercise 3

Creative Design Thinking

River Carpenter’s Individual Sketch

The idea behind this sketch was to minimize as much material as possible.  The T-base should be just big enough to hold all of the components we need, no more and no less.  The location of the motors will also allow for all power to be pushed straight up the wheel arm and into the wheels, allowing for better energy consumption.  Since so much of the weight is centered around the center of the AEV, the T-Shape Arm was selected.  This provides more forward support than the L-Shaped Arm, and will do better acting as a guiding support.  Every bit of the Base will be covered by something, making full use of the material.

Walid Abu-Raad’s Individual Sketch

The idea behind this design is driven by proper weight distribution. The battery being in the back, farther from the propellers and the arduino and wheels being up front will create proper weight distribution, making the AEV move more efficiently. It will also help keep the AEV properly balanced so it doesn’t sway as much as it moves, requiring less balance and ensuring safety as it has less of a chance of falling off the track
