Meeting Notes

Wednesday, January 10th, 2018 – Class 01

Total # of Members Present: River Carpenter, Simon Crowell, Mike Hubert, and Walid Abu-Raad

Major Topics Discussed:

  • Angle of slope of hills affects speed?
  • Who will do what?
  • Servo use?

Notes:

We discussed anything in particular that would want to do with our AEV project that is possibly extra or would be beneficial for our use.  River brought up that he thought we should use the servo for it power braking abilities.  The rest of the lab agreed to its use, as long as we can ensure that can program it and know how to use it.  Simon opted himself as the AEV’s programmer, since he said that programming is his thing.  We agreed to this, but will still be overseeing or helping if the opportunity presents itself.  Mike liked the idea of messing with the website, and we decided that it was perfect fit for him.  River also brought up concern about the angled hills on the track that the AEV will be running.  We discussed whether or not we need to adjust the speed of the AEV in accordance with the gradient of the hill since there will be a larger force of gravity acting against the direction of the moving AEV.  If the AEV is going fast enough, however, then we will not need to adjust for hill, we will just let it slow down.  We decided that we will have to see how strong the motors are before we decide exactly what to do with that idea.  No future plans were discussed until the next lab session.  We would like to see what comes next so we know exactly what next to mess with.
