Toxicants
The Human body consists of several complex compounds formed from different elements composed together. But when foreign substances are introduced into the body, most of them could prove toxic to the body. These toxins could create a variety of harmful reactions; mild to severe, inside our body. Some of this could even prove fatal.
Title 18 of the United States Code describes
the term “toxin” as the toxic material or product of plants, animals microorganisms (including, but not limited to, bacterial viruses protozoa, fungi or rickettsia) or infectious substances or a recombinant or synthesized molecule, whatever the origin or method of production
We may be getting exposed to these toxicants in many ways. Many products which we use in our day to day life contains several chemicals which when not handled carefully and properly may harm us. For eg; the cleaning products which we use in our home every day contain several toxic substances. The paint that decorated our walls once contained deadly lead. Humans also get exposed to toxicants from nature itself, like poisonous gases, poisons secreted by microorganisms, animals, plants, etc. Radioactive elements and isotopes are found naturally in the earth, which could expose us to serious radiation hazards. Radon gas is the number one cause of lung cancer among non-smokers in the USA.
I am detailing different types of toxicants in this blog. The blog details how we are exposed to these, what to do when you get exposed. The methodologies to treat persons affected. The common sources of these toxicants. How to prevent exposure.
