Quality Assurance deadline for Paulding County 4-H/FFA members is Wednesday, April 24, 2024. Quality Assurance MUST be completed in order to exhibit animals at the Paulding County Fair. Registration is required.

Leadership Development Retreat

OHIO 4-H LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT RETREAT (hosted by the Ohio 4-H Teen Leadership Council

When: April 12-13, 2024 (Friday early evening through Saturday afternoon – Dinner, Breakfast, and Lunch provided)

Where: 4-H Camp Palmer

Who: 4-H youth ages 13-18 interested in strengthening existing leadership skills

*Great opportunity for Camp Counselor training hours, JFB members, club officers, etc. – ~5 hours of counselor training available

Cost: $40 (covers overnight stay at camp plus 3 meals and a 4-H SWAG item)

*Sponsored by the Sauder 4-H Career Development Fund!

What: Teens will participate in interactive and engaging activities related to leadership skills, teambuilding strategies, conflict management, and other life, career, and college readiness skills.

Horse Clinic

A horse clinic will be held on Saturday, April 6th from 9am – 3pm at the Paulding County Fairgrounds. Please bring a horse and a packed lunch! Registration is required for anyone who attends.
*This is also the day of Livestock Tagging. If you plan to attend the Horse Clinic please make sure that you plan to have someone bring your livestock to get tagged.*

Poultry Clinic at the Darke County Fairgrounds

All Junior Fair Poultry Exhibitors are invited to attend the Darke County Junior Fair Committee Poultry Clinic on Saturday, April 13 starting at 10:00 am until Noon in the Ohio Building at the Darke County Fair, sponsored by the Darke County Junior Fair Poultry Committee.

A free lunch will be served at the conclusion of the clinic sponsored by Cooper Farms.  The poultry clinic will focus on nutrition, animal care, animal health, processing, showmanship, fair selection and biosecurity.  Lew Cunningham the 2024 Darke County Poultry Judge for the Fancy Show will focus on quality and selection.  Jackson Hile will be speaking about Pigeons.  Dr. Tim Barman, retired Cooper Farm Vet, will speak about biosecurity, animal ethics and proper care animal. 4-H College Scholarship Opportunity

→ Applications are due to the Paulding County Extension Office by April 26, 2024. Applications can either be submitted electronically to the Paulding County Extension Office by the close of business on the date due, dropped off during normal business hours, or mailed to the Extension Office.

→ Applicant must be a graduating senior.

→ The funds may be used for tuition, books, or lab fees and will be made payable to the recipient or their school. Receipts are required if funds are made payable to the recipient.

→ Applicant must have been a 4-H member in Paulding County for at least four years (including the present year).

Beekeeping Scholarship Program

Black Swamp Beekeepers Association is once again offering 3 ($1000.00) scholarships for 4-H students to apply to get into beekeeping.

The students will also receive a free ~ Beekeeping 101 Class that will be held on Saturday, March 9th, 2024 @ 9:00 am at the Defiance County Extension Office.
