Ohio Department of Agriculture Livestock Exhibitions FAQ

Below are some answers to commonly asked questions from across the state in regards to rules that ODA put into place last year.  It is very important for all of our livestock exhibitors to read and understand these rules.  A note for everyone is that even if ODA does not require DUNF’s for all animals, Paulding County DOES!!!

Attention Cattle Project Youth

After hearing discussions regarding the difficulty of finding full dairy breeds for our dairy beef feeder class, the Paulding County Junior Fairboard has decided that the best option moving forward is to add a new feeder class.  Outlined below is the information that you will need to consider when selecting the correct class.

Dairy Market Feeder

This is a new class!  Feeders in this class must be 100% dairy breed.  If a feeder has any beef influence mixed with a dairy influence, it will show in the Dairy Beef Feeder class.

Dairy Beef Feeder

The class name stays the same, but the requirements have changed.  Feeders in this class are for feeder calves that have a mix of Dairy and Beef influence.

Beef Feeder

Feeders in this class must be 100% beef breed.  If a feeder has any dairy influence mixed with the beef influence, it will show in the Dairy Beef Feeder class.

Items to Note

For any of the classes listed above, the youth will need to enroll in the 4-H project as outlined below.

  • Dairy Market Feeder – 117DF (Dairy Beef Feeder)
  • Dairy Beef Feeder – 117DF (Dairy Beef Feeder)
  • Beef Feeder – 117BF (Beef Feeder)

A grand and reserve champion award will be added to accommodate the addition of the Dairy Market Feeder class.
