4-H Project Book Ordering

Our office understands that when many of the book orders were put in, the market rabbit book was out of stock.  We also understand that to order one book online will cost more than double the price of the book.  For this reason, our office will be placing weekly book orders for the next two weeks.  From now until April 9th, you may e-mail Michael at Schweinsberg.5@osu.edu with your book order.  What is needed is the name of the book being requested along with how many of the book needs ordered.  Your order will then be placed by our office.  The orders will then be delivered to our office and a time will be set up for payment and book pick-up.  All orders received will have an invoice e-mailed to inform of the cost of the order.  Once again, all order requests must be e-mailed to Schweinsberg.5@osu.eduWe will not be taking orders over the phone, text, or any other means of communication.

Paulding County Junior Fair Livestock Tagging

The Paulding County Junior Fairboard will be holding our Livestock Tagging next Saturday, April 3rd, from 9:00 to 11:00 am at the Paulding County Fairgrounds.  Please enter at the main gate and drive down the midway to the barns.  We ask that you not make this a family event to limit the number of people on the fairgrounds.  It is also required that a mask is worn while on the fairgrounds.  The following animals will need to be tagged at this event in order to be able to be shown at the Paulding County Junior Fair: All Feeder Calves, All Market Swine, All Market Goats, and All Market Sheep.  For questions about livestock tagging, please contact Tony Miller at 419-203-1673.

Critical Information About Rabbit Housing

For the last few years, we have had an increase in the number of wildlife attacks on our rabbit projects.  Unfortunately, it is happening again this year.  We are highly encouraging all youth completing rabbit projects to evaluate where they are housing their animals.  For the safety of your project animals, and if at all possible, rabbit projects should be housed indoors (barn, shed, garage, etc.) that limits access of rodents and predators.  When housing any animal indoors, including rabbits, it is critical that proper ventilation is achieved.  Please refer to your Rabbit Resource Handbook for more information on proper ventilation for rabbit housing.
