Most all of you have heard that we are ordering books differently this year. Families are being asked to order their books directly from The Ohio State University Extension Publications Unit this year. The great news is that families will be able to order online, pay by credit or debit card, and have the books shipped directly to their house.
In order to receive the best possible price for your books, please utilize the free shipping option. This option is obtained by placing a book order of $20 or more and using the coupon code FREE2021 at checkout. For families that will not have $20 in book orders, consider ordering with another family in your club or contact Michael.
It was announced to all 4-H advisors recently that we do have a change in our livestock record books beginning this year. All livestock project participants are required to order and use the Ohio 4-H livestock project record book. This means we are no longer able to use the county livestock record books that we have used in past years. These books are species as well as breeding or market specific. When ordering, be sure you are ordering the right book(s) for your project(s). If you are not sure of the books that are needed for your project(s), please contact Michael for assistance.
For Horse project participants: The Uniform Rules for Horse Projects Book has been revised for the 2021-2024 show seasons. If you are completing and showing a horse at the county fair, this book will need to be purchased. You will only need 1 book per family. The copy you may currently have should be discarded.
The publications unit also informed that they will NOT be acccepting returns on book orders this year. This means that you must carefully select the project books you need for this year before placing your order.
Books can be ordered now and your project work can begin as soon as you receive your order. Currently, the publications unit does not have a lot of orders they are processing which means your books will be shipped quickly. The longer you wait to order your books, the slower it will be for you to receive them as other counties will begin their 4-H year.
