My Pencil Pouch

I have had the same black and blue pencil pouch since eighth grade. Over the years it has become faded, torn up, and worn down due to the fact that I used it every single day for 5 years. It went to school with me everyday, did homework with me everyday, helped me study for every test I took, from eighth grade history to AP Lit and Comp senior year spring. It was with me every step of my academic path towards my primary goal, get into Ohio State. Now, it comes with me to college, at Ohio State, and will continue to help me achieve my goals in school. While my goals today may be different than they were in eighth grade, it will continue to go with me to class everyday, do homework with me everyday, help me study for every test, and help me advance to the next stage of my academic career.

My Ohio State Acceptance Letter

As long as I’ve been planning to attend college, I knew I wanted to go to Ohio State. It was the goal that drove me to actually do my homework, pay attention in class, take honors and AP classes in high school, and continue to push myself when school got difficult. I will never forget the day I got my acceptance letter from Ohio State. It was over winter break of my senior year of high school, and I had just gotten back from the gym. When I started to read the letter, I immediately felt a sense of immense accomplishment and pride. All the hard work I had put in, all the hard classes I took, and homework assignments I finished had finally paid off. I had achieved the goal that consumed my entire scholastic life at that point. It was an incredibly rewarding feeling, as all my efforts in school had been validated. That acceptance letter was the driving force behind my education all throughout my childhood.
