Year in Review

[ “Year in Review”  is where you should reflect on the past year and show how you have evolved as a person and as a student.  You may want to focus on your growth in a particular area (as a leader, scholar, researcher, etc.) or you may want to talk about your overall experience over the past year.  For more guidance on using your ePortfolio, including questions and prompts that will help you get started, please visit the Honors & Scholars ePortfolio course in Carmen. G.O.A.L.S.

To complete my global awareness aspect of this program I am going to end up taking a lot of courses that have to do with the world in history and social studies. I plan on learning about plenty of other cultures as well throughout not only the world but in our own university. I also plan on taking spanish classes here in order to help me increase my ability to understand and communicate with other cultures from around the globe.

To complete my original inquiry part of the program I am going to be doing the endophytes research project in my biology class this semester. I will be setting up an experiment with a partner and asking a question and then testing it to see what the results are. It will be my own research and will not have been done before. I also am volunteering at the biomedical research tower this year and onwards to do more original research there with Dr. Amy Lovett-Racke.

To complete the academic enrichment portion of this program I am going to be taking many honors classes over the year that will be more challenging than your average course. I will also be taking many other courses here at Ohio State that are going to be considered incredibly difficult and high level classes. I also am going to continue . my volunteering at the biomedical research tower to continue to learn more about research and also to challenge myself to understand more about the field in which I may be joining in the near future.

To complete the leadership development aspect of the program I am going to do my best to be a leader within the classroom. I want to be the person who always knows whats going on and also can help others if they are in need. I also will be a leader outside of the classroom at my volunteering job by possibly helping other people who are newer than me learn their way around the lab.

To complete the service engagement aspect of this program I will be volunteering a lot. Twice a week I am going to be at the biomedical tower volunteering my time in a lab to help with research of MS. I also plan on possibly doing some other community service. I am very interested in possibly at some point joining a service club if my schedule becomes less busy in the coming semesters. I hope that my friends and I will join one of these club because I see it as very important to give back to the community.
