Year In Review: Sophomore Year

This past year was one for the books. In terms of academics, I was finally able to reach a point in which I was happy with my grades and performance while actually enjoying what was being studied in my classes, specifically my Neuroscience classes. I feel as though this past year, I was finally able to solidify my study habits and figure out a system that works for me and provides the best results. I did face many challenges however when it came to transitioning to at-home study due to COVID-19. Being at home, I had to completely change my approach to learning and quickly adapt to the new teaching and testing styles of the professors. Even though this was a major change, it allowed me to realize that I can in fact face difficult tasks when I set my mind to them and that although it was difficult, I was able to successfully end this academic year with the grades and GPA that I was working towards. This past year has taught me that hard work does pay off and that I can’t slack off if I want to meet all of my goals.

Vision Statement

Although the end of my Sophomore year was not one that I was expecting, I am still pleased with the progress I have made in my grades and study habits. Looking forward, these past few months have allowed me to go over the time I have already spent at Ohio State and further plan what I hope to achieve and accomplish in my final two years. This time away from campus has made me realize that, when we return, I’d like to be more involved in volunteering and clubs, possibly exploring other interests I have and building on them. I’d also like to find a job that could help show off the skills I have that would make me a good dentist, so possibly working with my hands or something that requires great attention to detail.

A Semester in Review

This past semester has taught me a lot about managing my time and learning how to function without as much guidance or help that I’m used to. I’ve realized that throughout the first few months of being here, I’ve already had to become more independent and rely on myself for things that I would have previously had my family or peers to help me with. Although this semester was very difficult at times, it helped stress how bad it is to procrastinate and I’ve noticed that now I try to finish things ahead of time. Overall, this semester has been both very fun but has also taught me how to improve my habits going into the second semester.

A Year in Review

So far, this year I have learned a lot about myself. I learned that I am very well capable of leading a large group of people and taking charge of a situation. This time last year, I didn’t have much confidence in my ability to lead others and I though of myself as a follower, but after attending various seminars and participating in different activities and situations where my abilities were tested, I knew that I did in fact have the ability to take charge and be a leader. This past year, I also gained the confidence in myself in knowing that when I work hard for something, I am able to achieve my goals and pursue what I set out for myself and the future aspirations I have. I know that if I work hard enough, I can achieve many if not all, of the either short or long term goals I have set.
