G.O.A.L.S.

Many of my interests and passions align with G.O.A.L.S. that The Ohio State University’s Honors and Scholars students focus their true goals around. One that highly resonates with me on an academic and personal level is Global Awareness. Academically, Global Awareness matches with my interests because as a Public Health major who is specializing in environmental studies and is on the pre med path, I hope to use my education to improve health conditions on a global level. One item on my medical career bucket list is that I hope to start a chain of non profit clinics around the world in order to better health care in areas that need a boost and to also reach regions that may not receive the most minimalistic health care. Through the public health classes that I have taken over the last year and a half, I have seen that there are many health disparities in the world and I hope that I can aid in decreasing their negative impact on the world through my education and future career.

On the other hand, I have realized that I do not need to wait until I become a physician in order to help people in the ways that are needed by them. I currently participate in many organizations that have oriented their purpose in making a positive impact on the world. I am heavily involved with BuckeyeThon, which is a  year long movement and the largest philanthropic student organization in the state of Ohio that is based at The Ohio State University and is on a mission to end pediatric cancer. Over the years, we have raised more than $8,000,000 for Nationwide Children’s Hospital and we have seen the impact that students can make on the world.

I am so thankful to OSU for giving me organizations like BuckeyeThon, Mount Leadership Society, and many more, which has enriched not only my education, but also me as a person.
