Year in Review

[ “Year in Review”  is where you should reflect on the past year and show how you have evolved as a person and as a student.  You may want to focus on your growth in a particular area (as a leader, scholar, researcher, etc.) or you may want to talk about your overall experience over the past year.  For more information, go to: http://honors-scholars.osu.edu/e-portfolio. About Me

I am from a small town in central Minnesota called Saint Michael. Growing up in a small town I have always had very close connections with everyone that I know. That is one of the reasons that I wanted to come to a school as large as Ohio State because I wanted to experience something new.
I came to Ohio State because I had always wanted to go to a school out of state with enough distance from home that it would be a whole new experience for me. With the great academics, the wide variety of resources and opportunities that the campus has to offer, and the atmosphere in general, Ohio State seemed like a great option. When I toured the campus I fell in love and I knew it was the school for me that would prepare me for the future in the best way possible.
In high school I took classes in almost every area possible to explore all of the different options that I would have for the future. The ones that I enjoyed the most were in the business curriculum so I decided that I wanted to go to business school. Accounting classes were always some of my favorites and I am very skilled at accounting which is how I decided on the accounting specialization.
I have been passionate about sports for as long as I can remember so I would love to someday work within the sports industry in a way that I would hopefully be able to incorporate all of my interests. I am hoping to pursue a double major in the sports industry area in addition to my business degree. Being from Minnesota I am a huge hockey fan so that would be my preferred area of interest but I would be open to other sports as well.
I know that I will have a great academic experience at Ohio State but I am also hoping to strengthen skills that will be valuable in the workplace such as leadership and communication.
