Peer Mentoring Weeks 9 & 10
Week 9 was an off-week, but everyone is still exhausted from midterms, projects, and the looming finals. Even though they’re still a few weeks away, finals are hanging over everyone’s heads because for the freshmen, this will be their very first college finals week. It’s not nearly as spectacular as it sounds, but it does mean that winter break is on the horizon which is spectacular. I think that I can speak for all of us and say that we are ready for the semester to be done. I think, however, the Dennis Learning Center presentation on “Stress Less” taught them some ways to cope with the final stressful weeks of the semester. For me personally, it was probably the most helpful presentation I remember in my survey class three years ago.
As the semester begins to wind down, I’m working more on the internship project for the ASC Honors Peer Mentor Program. Writing surveys for survey students and peer mentors seemed like a fairly straightforward task, but I learned that there was more to think about regarding question wording, structure, and order. With Joanna’s advice, I think I found a decent metric for this year’s survey surveys and am looking forward to finalizing everything.
