About Me

14334551_1069385443130486_2067978429_n1

My name is Lalitha Pamidigantam and I’m from Dublin, Ohio! I grew up in this suburb of Columbus since I was nine months old– before that, I was born in India. Though my skin color and ethnicity may imply otherwise, I am as American as they come. My identity stems from the decisions I make as to who I am during a particular moment of time. I am many things– I am an intersectional, multi-marginalized, anti-imperialist, socialist feminist. I am a staunch believer in realism, which does indeed conflict with my feminist/socialist beliefs, but I am also a believer in conflicting images. I am a progressive, and I am a human being on this planet called Earth. I am a flautist, a dreamer, a painter, a drawer, a bilingual student of the languages, a historian and most importantly, an active student at The Ohio State University in the major of International Affairs. My professional interests lay in the public sector; I want to go into foreign service. Specifically, I would like to work for the US government in the area of foreign service, working as a public health policy advisor to an envoy to East Asian countries.

My Indian background is nothing unique. What is unique is that I grew up with the same ideologies, opportunities, and belief systems as my neighbors around me. Though I did grow up with a different religion and more traditional Indian values, my privilege stems from my experiences; I have never experienced discrimination because I am Indian/brown skinned. However, I have faced sexism as a feminine, cisgendered woman, and that fuels me to work in the field of health and sex education policy.

At tOSU, I want to make a profound impact in the way that I make changes truly happen; I want to see a shelter for abuse/sexual assault victims created on campus, I want more inclusive discussions on feminism, internationalism, globalism, and I would like to implement a more diverse platform for the incoming classes.

I chose IA scholars because I believe in internationalism and globalization; in this day and age, the world is becoming smaller and smaller, and I want to be on the forefront of the groundbreaking theories on global politics and such. I would like to work internationally and learn more about various cultures, as they are very soon going to disappear, as cultures do. I would like to take advantage of the various opportunities this scholars group gives me, and I love that everyone in this program truly cares about what is going on in the world.
